Supplemental Time Rules

Eligibility for Billing Supplemental Time:

If you are a Claims/SIU Investigator or a Surveillance Investigator, you can get paid for completing CE courses outside of your normal work hours. To be eligible for supplemental time billing, you must meet the following criteria before starting a CE course:

1. License Requirements: Confirm if CE is mandated for your state license renewal.

2. CE Credits Status: Check your accumulated CE credit hours for the current renewal period to ensure you haven't already completed all your state required credit hours.

3. Work Status: Make sure you are not clocked in or engaged in other work-related tasks for which you are already being paid for.

4. Course Approval: Verify the course you wish to take is state-approved for CE credits and that you have not already completed the same course during your current renewal period.

Time Tracking for Supplemental Time:

Accurate time tracking is paramount. Consider using:

• The Windows PC Clock app Stopwatch

• Your Phone's Clock app Stopwatch

• A simple Stopwatch website

Start the timer when you begin the course, pause for breaks, and record the final time upon completion.

When Submitting for Supplemental Time:

• DO: Submit only the actual time spent on the course.

• DO NOT: Submit based on the course's credit hours or the estimated completion time listed in the catalog.

We monitor course completion times and compare them against submitted supplemental time. Discrepancies, such as submitting more time than you spent working on a course, may raise concerns.
